Las obras que se muestran fueron compendiadas a raíz de los trabajos coreano-etruscos que se realizaron en el año 2016 y que conformaron Le Cabinet de Curiosités.
La temática diálogos celestiales, fue excluida de dicha muestra para dar protagonismo a las curiosidades terrenales. Una vez seleccionadas y catalogadas se descubrió el valor y la complejidad de estas obras y surgió la necesidad de exponerlas.
Ida-Idae y Chung Ho (ì • 호 ) se complacen poder compartir con usted el fruto de su trabajo de investigación titulado:
“San Antonio Nunca Falla, comprobación empírica y tal”
Votos, Exvotos, Dudas, Altares, Súplicas, Libaciones, Oraciones, Ritos, Ofrendas, Lustraciones, Alabanzas, Rezos y otros Miedos
Artefactos todos ellos que en ningún caso quieren herir sensibilidades por su temática, antes al contrario, las subrayan. Se diría, más bien, que comulgan con un humor dadaista, junto a una pureza primitiva.

These pieces were put together as a result of the Korean-Etruscan work produced in 2016. and which went on show in the exhibition “Le Cabinet de Curiosités”.
In that show the emphasis was on earthly curiosities, to the exclusion of other pieces more closely related to the theme of celestial dialogues. Once these latter had been selected and catalogued, however, their true value and complexity was revealed and it became clear that the public should be able to enjoy them.
Ida-Idae and Chung Ho (ì • 호 ) are now pleased to share with you the results of their investigative work in this new exhibition titled:

“Saint Anthony Never Fails, an empirical proof or whatever”
Vows and Ex-votos; Doubts and Rites; Supplications, Libations, Lustrations and Orations; Offerings and Altars; Prayers, Praise and other fears.

The artefacts on show are designed not to offend sensibilities but to reveal them. Welcome to a communion of Dadaist humour seasoned with primitive purity.

Artefakte, die keinesfalls Empfindlichkeiten dieser Thematik verletzen wollen, sondern sie im Gegenteil hervorheben.
Eher könnte man sagen, dass sie sich in Form eines dadaistischen Humors mit ursprünglicher, primitiver Reinheit verbinden.
Napoles, las almas del purgatorio.
En esta sorprendente ciudad, en su centro histórico, en Via dei Tribunali, se encuentra una Iglesia barroca poco conocida, que tiene por nombre: Santa María delle anime del purgatorio.
Es una Iglesia dedicada al culto a las almas del purgatorio. Lo más interesante de ella es el hipogeo, la parte subterránea, donde hay una especie de cementerio con muchos huesos a la vista. En este curioso lugar se practicaba hasta hace poco un culto peculiar a las almas que nos puede sorprender y quizás escandalizar, pero que está muy ligado al espíritu napolitano y que tiene un sólido fundamento teológico. Las personas o las familias adoptaban un alma del purgatorio, de un desconocido, y lo hacían a través de su cráneo, su calavera, que recogían, limpiaban, cuidaban, ponían en un sitio destacado. Rezaban por esta alma, ofrecían limosnas, sacrificios, misas por ella, con la esperanza de que cuando llegara al paraíso intercediera por la persona o la familia que la había adoptada.
Naples, souls in purgatory.

In this surprising city, in the historic centre, Via dei Tribunali, there is a little known baroque church with the name of Santa Maria delle anime del purgatorio. It is a church dedicated to souls in purgatory.
The most interesting part of the church is the hypogeum, a sort of underground cementery, with bones everywhere. Until only recently a ritual was practised in this curious spot, designed only for these souls. It may surprise us or maybe scandalize us but it is a reflection of the Neapolitan spirit. Individuals or families would adopt a soul in purgatory, and they would do this by selecting a skull, of someone unknown to them, which they would clean and care for, keeping it in a prominent place. They would pray for this soul, offering alimony, sacrifices and masses in the hope that when the soul finally arrived in Paradise it would intercede on behalf of the individual or family that had adopted it.

In dieser beeindruckenden Stadt, in der Via dei Tribunali, befindet sich eine wenig bekannte Barockkirche, die Santa Maria delle Anime del Purgatorio genannt wird.
Es ist eine Kirche, die dem Seelenheil im Fegefeuer gewidmet ist.
Der interessanteste Teil davon ist das Hypogäum, der unterirdische Teil, wo es eine Art Friedhof mit vielen Knochen zu sehen gibt. An diesem kuriosen Ort wurde bis vor kurzem ein eigentümlicher Kult um die Seelen praktiziert, der uns überraschen und vielleicht skandalisieren kann, der aber sehr mit dem neapolitanischen Geist verbunden ist und der eine solide theologische Grundlage hat. Leute oder Familien nahmen eine Seele vom Fegefeuer, von einem Fremden an, und sie taten es durch seinen Schädel, den sie sammelten, säuberten, sich kümmerten, ihn an einem prominenten Platz setzten. Sie beteten für diese Seele, boten Almosen, Opfer, Messen für sie an und hofften, dass sie, wenn sie im Paradies ankam, für die Person oder Familie, die sie adoptiert hatte.
